Within this page and all child pages we are documenting a number of key energy data use cases and their specific user needs which will help innovators to deliver value. The intention is that this will help those developing digital systems and data access solutions across the energy sector to create products and services which meet user needs and promote interoperability.
Within this page and child pages we are developing an open repository of energy data user needs which describe the kinds of data which innovators need, what needs to be linked and in what format it should be provided. We are aiming to highlight specific formats or structures that data users prefer and specific requirements for granularity, accuracy, completeness, consistency or timeliness of data.
Each user need case study describes the data requirements of a specific use case which has been contributed by one or more potential data user. Where there are use cases with similar user needs we may combine these to keep the repository of user needs concise but we will indicate that input has been provided by multiple parties.
This approach has been inspired by the IETF 'Request for Comments' approach that helped to drive the development, standardisation and growth of the internet - thanks for Paul Barnfather from EA Technology for the suggestion.
